Job Responsibilities and Requirements
Functions as a skilled-level technician capable of diagnosing and repairing vehicles, with specialization in specific repair areas. Essential duties include:
- Performing work efficiently and accurately according to dealership and factory standards.
- Diagnosing malfunctions and performing repairs.
- Communicating with parts department to obtain necessary parts.
- Saving and tagging parts for warranty or customer requests.
- Examining vehicles for safety or additional service needs.
- Communicating with service advisors about additional work or delays.
- Documenting all work on repair orders.
- Road testing vehicles or referring to test technicians.
- Participating in manufacturer training and staying updated on technical bulletins.
- Supervising apprentice technicians as assigned.
- Reporting machinery issues to management.
- Maintaining vehicle cleanliness and notifying service advisors of any changes.
- Keeping the shop area tidy and ensuring tools and manuals are maintained and returned properly.
- Complying with safety and environmental regulations.
- Operating tools and equipment safely and reporting safety concerns.
Qualifications include:
- Previous experience at an automotive dealership.
- Strong understanding of the service drive.
- Dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Positive attitude and customer service mentality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and procedures.
- Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass drug testing, background checks, and MVR reviews.
