Job summary

Global Engineering & Construction is seeking E&I Technicians for critical energy infrastructure projects in the Northern Territory, Australia. This FIFO position offers a 3:1 roster, emphasizing safety and quality during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems in the Oil & Gas sector.

Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of E&I experience and relevant qualifications, ready to work in a team-oriented environment with opportunities for career growth and upskilling.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in an E&I or similar role within oil & gas, energy, or mining.
  • Strong understanding of hazardous area environments (EHHA).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems.
  • Maintain and repair electrical equipment including panels, drives, and motor control centers.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance across E&I systems.

Job description

We’re building our next crew of E&I Technicians for a major project supporting critical Australian energy infrastructure in the Northern Territory. These roles will play a key part in the delivery, installation, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems across high‑profile Oil & Gas projects.

You will play a hands‑on role in delivering critical infrastructure, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficient execution. This FIFO position is a 3:1 roster. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high‑performing team, contributing to the delivery of instrumentation and electrical works across Oil & Gas wellhead and plant infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems
  • Maintain and repair electrical equipment including panels, drives, and motor control centers
  • Perform loop checks, commissioning, and testing of instrumentation systems
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance across E&I systems
  • Diagnose faults across PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems
  • Interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and loop diagrams
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, testing, and calibration activities
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with safety standards, procedures, and permit systems
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in an E&I or similar role within oil & gas, energy, or mining
  • Unrestricted Electrical License
  • Instrumentation qualification (highly regarded)
  • Experience working with process control systems and instrumentation calibration
  • Strong understanding of hazardous area environments (EHHA)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Solid knowledge of electrical safety, isolation, and permit‑to‑work systems
  • Current driver’s licence and White Card
