Job summary

NSW Department of Education in regional NSW seeks a full-time school psychologist based at Wallerawang Public School to support students’ learning and wellbeing through counselling and psychological assessments.

You will collaborate with teachers, families, and external services to develop tailored support plans, advancing student outcomes while engaging in ongoing professional supervision and professional development.

Qualifications

• Counselling and assessment skills for students
• Ability to provide short-term therapeutic interventions
• Collaborative work with school staff and external agencies

Responsibilities

• Provides counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups
• Implements the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service
• Works with school leadership and support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes
• Contributes to social, emotional and academic development of students
• Conducts cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments and reports results
• Collaborates with parents, carers and other agencies to develop school-based support
• Responds to assist schools in serious incidents
• Refers students and families to appropriate external supports
