Job summary

Viasat is seeking a DWDM Optical Network Engineer to join a high-visibility technology team. You will help design the core network infrastructure supporting a global satellite fleet and work across layer 1–3 design, capacity planning, and platform management.

You will apply multi-vendor experience, create MOPs, and automate network components while advancing your knowledge of coherent long-haul networks in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• 5 years of relevant work experience with multi-vendor network equipment to architect complex DWDM systems.
• Create written network implementation design plans (MOPs).
• Hands-on experience with BER Test, Optical Power Meter, OTDR, etc., and troubleshooting system issues.
• Work to automate network components and network management systems.
• Knowledge of coherent technology to build long-haul networks.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect the company's core network infrastructure to support a global satellite fleet.
• Perform layer 1–3 network design, capacity planning and platform management.
• Design routes for fiber-based networks including point-to-point, ring and path-diverse routing.
