Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an innovative and results-oriented Research Scientist to join their Pharmaceutical Development team in Queenstown. You will design and conduct experiments advancing preclinical drug discovery, analyzing data, and contributing to program strategy.

The role requires a PhD and at least four years in drug discovery, strong PK/PD understanding, and excellent communication and publication track record. Collaboration with chemists, pharmacologists, and toxicologists is essential.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in drug discovery or pharmaceutical development research.
• Proven expertise in designing and conducting cell-based and biochemical assays.
• Experience with multiple therapeutic areas and drug modalities.
• Strong understanding of PK/PD relationships and preclinical development processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with publication record.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret experiments to identify and optimize lead compounds for drug development.
• Utilize a range of in vitro and in vivo models to assess drug efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetic properties.
• Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists, pharmacologists, and toxicologists to advance drug discovery projects.
• Analyze complex biological and chemical data, identifying key trends and making data-driven recommendations.
• Contribute to the preparation of regulatory documents and scientific publications.
• Maintain detailed experimental records and ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards in Queenstown.
