Job summary

Western NSW Local Health District is recruiting a Drug & Alcohol Clinician to join the psychosocial team in Dubbo. The role focuses on delivering evidence-based, person-centred care for individuals with alcohol and drug use issues.

You will conduct assessments, schedule counselling, develop treatment plans, write reports and liaise with GPs and other services, applying trauma-informed care and harm-minimisation throughout community and inpatient settings.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering psychosocial drug and alcohol support.
• Ability to perform assessments, form treatment plans and write reports.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm minimisation.

Responsibilities

About the role

Join the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) Drug & Alcohol Psychosocial team in delivering high quality services to drug dependent clients.

The Drug & Alcohol team provides a diverse range of Drug & Alcohol services including completing assessments, scheduling counselling appointments, court reports, follow up with GP or other services, developing treatment plans, report writing, advocacy skills, case management skills, counselling skills, and knowledge of trauma informed care.

The alcohol and other drugs teamwork for the greater good through an open, flexible and dynamic, strengths-based approach. We listen to understand, not label. The AOD sector offers a challenging and rewarding specialisation, with a strong focus on human rights and intellectually stimulating work.

Using innovative, evidence-based skills and interventions, you will professionally support individuals seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use. You will take a trauma-informed approach and provide respectful, person-centred care, tailored to individual’s needs. Central to your role will be employing an individualised, holistic approach to care, incorporating comprehensive care planning to address the diverse physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person’s journey.

You will work within a harm minimisation framework to assess, implement, evaluate and document best practice intervention strategies to meet person-centred substance use goals. Using assessment, monitoring and advice you’ll help promote recover for clients going through withdrawal (from all drugs) in community or inpatient settings. This role operates within business hours, Monday to Friday.
