Job summary

Glencore Australia is seeking an experienced Drill and Blast Engineer to join the Technical Services team in Queensland. Reporting to the Short-Term Planning Superintendent, you will develop drill patterns, loading designs and blast tie-ins, while ensuring compliance with site standards and SHMS.

You will mentor engineers and work across planning, survey and operations to optimise short- and long-term mine plans.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
Demonstrated experience in a Drill and Blast Engineering or similar mining engineering role.
Proficiency in Vulcan and BlastLogic software.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.
The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced mining environment.

Responsibilities

Develop drill patterns, loading designs and blast tie-in designs.
Design and optimise blasts, ensuring compliance with site standards and SHMS.
Liaise with Survey and Operations to uphold drill preparation standards and approvals.
Collaborate with Planning Engineers to optimise mine plans for short to long-term outcomes.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and blast optimisation trials.
Coach and mentor Mining Engineers to build technical capability.
