Job summary

HVO Hunter Valley Operations is seeking a confident Drill & Blast Engineer to join our Technical Services team. Based on site at the Hunter Valley, you will develop and optimise blasting designs to support safe, efficient mining operations.

You’ll bring tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering (or demonstrated practical experience), plus strong planning, problem solving and influencing skills to drive continuous improvement and performance.

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering (or demonstrated practical experience).
• Commitment to health, safety, environment and community.
• Excellent planning, organising and influencing skills.
• Problem solving and lateral thinking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Improve and optimise drill & blast processes on site.
• Design safe and efficient mining of waste and coal.
• Engage with Tech Services and external stakeholders.
• Apply and improve quality control for drill & blast activities.
• Understand and comply with environmental restrictions.
• Design and analyse blasting performance across the mining cycle.
• Lead ad hoc projects and implement new drill & blast technologies.
