Job summary

Bushfire and Forest Services in Victoria is seeking a District Forest and Fire Planning Officer to lead planning for forest and fire management across the state. You’ll work with a team of planning specialists to develop plans that guide on-ground activities, including fuel management, planned burns, roading, recreation and forest health programs.

Do you want to help shape the work that protects Victoria's forests, public land and communities?

As a District Forest and Fire Planning Officer, you'll work with a team of planning specialists to develop the plans that guide on-ground forest and fire management activities across Victoria. From planned burns and fuel management to roading, recreation and forest health programs, your work will help ensure the right projects are delivered in the right places.

This is a role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with data and mapping systems, and collaborating with operational teams and stakeholders to turn ideas into practical outcomes.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

• A broad knowledge and/or relevant experience in the planning and delivery of fuel, road, track, recreation and environmental asset maintenance and improvement programs is desirable.
• Contractor management skills including the ability to manage procurement is desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2028. The work location for this position is 5338 Great Alpine Road, Ovens (Ovens Office).
