Job summary

Box Hill Institute in Melbourne is seeking a Disability Transition Support Officer to guide students with disability through their transition into TAFE. You’ll provide targeted support to students, families and schools, coordinating services and adjustments to maximise inclusion and success during the first 90 days.

This full-time fixed-term role (through February 2028) offers a salary of $87,524 plus 12% superannuation, with on-site parking and strong staff benefits.

As a Disability Transition Support Officer, you'll provide personalised guidance, advocacy and intensive transition support to students, families and schools, helping students build confidence, access appropriate support and successfully commence their studies at Box Hill Institute.

About the role

As the Disability Transition Support Officer, you will work directly with students with disability, their families, secondary schools and internal support teams to ensure a successful transition into TAFE studies.

You will develop tailored transition plans, coordinate support services, facilitate stakeholder meetings and provide specialised advice regarding enrolment processes, reasonable adjustments and available supports. This role focuses on supporting students throughout their transition journey, particularly during their first 90 days of study, while working collaboratively within a 'Team Around the Learner' framework.

What You'll Bring

• Experience supporting people with disability, mental health conditions and/or medical conditions
• Understanding of disability-related legislation, reasonable adjustments and inclusive practice
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong case management, planning and organisation abilities
• Ability to build effective relationships with students, families, schools and internal stakeholders
• A commitment to improving educational outcomes for people with disability
• Experience within education, disability, youth, community services or a related sector will be highly regarded

Qualifications/Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant experience in disability, education, community services or a related field
• Demonstrated understanding of disability support frameworks and relevant legislation
• Current Employee Working With Children Check
• Current National Police Check
