VitalCore Support Services – Toowoomba QLD is seeking casual Disability Support Workers to support a person living with dementia in their home in Toowoomba. This one-on-one role focuses on consistency, safety, comfort and promoting independence, with paid weekly wages.

You will undertake personal care, meals, light housework, and community activities, while reporting changes to family and care teams and maintaining clear shift notes. Training is provided.

Formación

• Experience supporting people living with dementia in aged care, disability or home care.
• Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability) or equivalent experience.
• Patience, warmth and a gentle, unhurried approach.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check (must be cleared before first shift).
• Current First Aid and CPR.
• Full driver’s licence and a reliable, insured vehicle.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver personal care with dignity (showering, dressing, grooming, continence support).
• Prepare meals, prompt fluids, and support medication per care plan.
• Light household tasks: cleaning and laundry, keeping home safe and familiar.
• Provide meaningful activities, conversation, and outings in the community.
• Offer calm reassurance and redirection during confusion or restlessness.
• Follow behaviour support plans and respond with patience and respect.
• Notice and report changes in health, mood, or behaviour.
• Maintain communication with family and care team and write shift notes.

Dementia Care Queensland is looking for casual Disability Support Workers in Toowoomba to support a person living with dementia in their home.

This is one on one support where consistency matters. You will become a familiar, trusted face, helping them stay safe, comfortable and connected, and supporting them to live as independently as possible.

What you'll be doing

• Personal care delivered with dignity, including showering, dressing, grooming and continence support
• Preparing meals, prompting fluids and supporting medication as set out in the care plan
• Light household tasks such as cleaning and laundry, and keeping the home safe and familiar
• Meaningful activities, conversation and outings in the community
• Calm reassurance and redirection through confusion, anxiety or late afternoon restlessness
• Following behaviour support plans and responding to changed behaviours with patience and respect
• Noticing and reporting changes in health, mood or behaviour
• Keeping family and the care team in the loop and writing clear shift notes

What we’re looking for

• Experience supporting people living with dementia, in aged care, disability or home care
• Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability), or equivalent experience

What we offer

• $41 to $45 per hour, paid weekly
• Day shifts and sleepover shifts available
• Casual employment under the SCHADS Award. This is an employed role, not ABN or contractor
• Full induction and dementia specific training before your first shift
• Refresher training every two months and monthly group supervision with a clinical psychologist
• Regular shifts with the same person, so you can build a genuine relationship
