Job summary

Thorndale Foundation in the Nepean region is seeking passionate Disability Support Workers to help participants live independently in their community. You will assist with daily tasks, transport, meal prep, and skill development in a caring environment.

The role requires a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent, plus a NSW Drivers Licence, First Aid, and NDIS Worker Screening. On-the-job training is provided, and you will join a not-for-profit team dedicated to advocacy

Qualifications

• Flexibility to work varied shifts across the week.
• Current NSW Drivers Licence and First Aid certification.
• Willingness to obtain NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the overall care, health and well-being of participants.
• Support social engagement and community inclusion for participants.
• Assist with household tasks, meals and laundry as required.
• Develop participant skills: shopping, cooking, transport, money handling.
• Provide transport to appointments and accompany participants when needed.
• Support participants to achieve individual personal goals.

The role

Our Disability Support Workers are key to what we do – empowering people with a disability to live, work and learn in a positive environment that enriches their lives. We are looking for enthusiastic people who have a genuine desire to work with people with a disability in their daily life. They need to be patient, compassionate, and have a smile ready to share. This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to make a positive change in our participants' lives and also become a part of our successfulteam.

Role responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• contributing to the overall care, health, and well-being of participants
• supporting the social engagement and inclusion within their community
• household tasks – household cleaning, laundry, assisting with the preparation of meals
• skill development – shopping, cooking, catching public transport, money handling
• transport to appointments and/or shopping
• providing support and assistance to help achieve individual personal goals

About you

To be successful in this role you require the following:

• minimum Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability or the equivalent) or working towards
• experience working with people who have a disability and challenging behaviors
• flexibility to undertake the various shifts Monday – Sundayincluding, morning, afternoon, and awake shifts
• strong written and verbal communication skills, including knowledge of person-centered approaches to care
• current NSW Drivers Licence
• current First Aid Certificate
• current NDIS Workers Screening Check (or be willing to apply for one)

Remuneration

Wages and conditions are in accordance with the Social Community Homecare and Disability Award 2010.
