Job summary

Hope & Integrity Care Services is seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team across Gold Coast, Brisbane, Bayside Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich. We value hands-on disability support and genuine, person-centred care that helps participants feel safe, respected and supported.

Applicants must have at least 1 year of hands-on experience, with preference given to High‑Intensity or Behaviour Support backgrounds.

DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKER – EXPERIENCED

Hope & Integrity Care Services is seeking experienced, reliable and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join our growing team across Gold Coast, Brisbane, Bayside Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich.

We are specifically looking for people with genuine, hands‑on disability support experience who understand that quality support goes well beyond completing a list of tasks.

For us, great support is about building trust, communicating clearly, understanding the individual and developing genuine professional relationships that allow participants to feel safe, respected and supported.

Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of hands‑on disability support experience.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate extensive experience in High‑Intensity Support, Behaviour Support, or both.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Disability Support Worker with Hope & Integrity Care Services, you will provide individualised support based on each participant's needs, goals, preferences and support plan.

Depending on the participant, your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting participants with personal care and activities of daily living
• Assisting with meal preparation, household tasks and development of independent living skills
• Supporting community access, appointments, activities and social participation
• Building positive, respectful and professional relationships with participants
• Providing emotional support and meaningful companionship while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
• Supporting participants to work towards their individual NDIS goals
• Following participant support plans, risk management strategies and Behaviour Support Plans where applicable
• Supporting participants with complex or high‑intensity support needs within your training and assessed competencies
• Recognising changes in a participant's presentation and escalating concerns appropriately
• Respecting participant choice, dignity, privacy and independence
• Completing clear, accurate and timely shift notes, progress notes and incident documentation
• Communicating clearly and professionally with participants, families, colleagues and other relevant stakeholders

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for experienced support workers who combine practical capability with the interpersonal qualities required to build trust and meaningful professional relationships.

To be considered, you should have:

• A minimum of 1 year of hands‑on disability support work experience
• Demonstrated experience supporting people with disability in home and/or community settings
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to build genuine rapport, trust and professional relationships with participants
• A person‑centred approach that respects dignity, choice, independence and individual preferences
• Confidence supporting participants with diverse and potentially complex needs
• Reliability, punctuality and consistency
• Emotional maturity and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
• A clear understanding of professional boundaries and participant confidentiality
• Ability to follow support plans, Behaviour Support Plans, workplace procedures and NDIS requirements
• Ability to work independently while remaining accountable to the broader team
• Confidence completing accurate progress notes and escalating incidents or concerns appropriately

A Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or a related qualification is preferred.

HIGHLY REGARDED EXPERIENCE – HIGH‑INTENSITY & BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT

Preference will be given to applicants with substantial practical experience in one or both of the following areas:

HIGH‑INTENSITY SUPPORT

We highly value candidates with demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex or high‑intensity needs, which may include:

• Complex personal care
• Manual handling and transfers
• Mealtime management and dysphagia‑related supports
• Enteral feeding/PEG support
• Medication assistance
• Catheter‑related support
• Complex bowel care
• Complex wound care
• Other high‑intensity or complex daily support needs

Applicants should only undertake high‑intensity supports for which they have the appropriate training, competency and participant‑specific assessment.

BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT

We also highly value candidates with substantial experience supporting participants with behaviours of concern and complex behavioural needs.

Relevant experience may include:

• Working effectively with Behaviour Support Plans
• Understanding individual triggers, communication needs and early warning signs
• Applying proactive support and de‑escalation strategies
• Maintaining a calm and respectful approach during periods of escalation
• Supporting participant choice while appropriately managing risk
• Accurate documentation and reporting of behavioural incidents
• Working collaboratively with families, behaviour support practitioners and other professionals

Candidates with strong experience across BOTH High‑Intensity Support and Behaviour Support will be particularly well suited to some of our more complex participant support requirements.

COMMUNICATION & GENUINE CONNECTION MATTER TO US

Technical experience is important, but so is how you work with people.

We value support workers who take the time to understand the person behind the support plan.

You should be able to communicate clearly, listen, build trust and develop a genuine professional connection with participants while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

We want participants and their families to experience consistency — support workers who arrive when expected, understand the participant's routines and preferences, communicate respectfully and genuinely care about helping the person achieve greater independence and quality of life.

AVAILABILITY

Alongside experience, reliable availability is an important consideration when matching workers with participants.

We are particularly interested in applicants with broad availability across:

We welcome experienced applicants who can provide at least 2–3 consistent days of availability each week. Candidates who combine extensive experience with broader availability will be particularly well suited to our current recruitment needs.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants will need to hold or provide the relevant employment and compliance documentation, including:

• Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
• Current National Police Check
• Valid Australian working rights
• Current driver's licence
• Reliable access to a vehicle suitable for travelling to participant shifts
• Relevant NDIS Worker Orientation training and required competencies
• Current First Aid and CPR certification, where required
• Any participant‑specific training or competency assessment required before undertaking complex or high‑intensity supports
