Qualifications

About the Role

We are currently seeking a compassionate, experienced, and reliable Female Disability Support Worker to support a participant with complex physical, neurological, and mental health needs. Location - Dandenong

This is a high-support, person-centered role requiring strong manual handling skills and a trauma-informed approach. The ideal candidate will be committed to empowering the participant while maintaining safety, dignity, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with mobility support, including transfers, repositioning, and movement around the home and community.
  • Provide personal care assistance while ensuring dignity and comfort.
  • Monitor and respond to seizures according to the participant’s care plan.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the participant’s daily quality of life.
  • Maintain accurate records and report any concerns to the relevant team members.

Requirements

  • Native English speakers preferred (as per participant preference)
  • Female candidates only (participant’s personal preference)
  • Strong manual handling and mobility support skills
  • Knowledge and implementation of Behaviour Support Plans and restrictive practices
  • High-level empathy, patience, and compassion
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive during seizure events
  • First Aid and CPR (seizure management training is a plus)
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Driver’s license and reliable transport
  • Nursing background or nursing experience
  • Experience working with clients with neurological or psychiatric conditions
