Job summary

Our Family Respite Pty Ltd on the Central Coast seeks an enthusiastic Disability Support Worker to join a small, consistent 1:1 team supporting an 18-year-old young man.

This role focuses on building independence, daily living skills and community participation, with shifts around 2 x 3 hours per week and potential for additional hours.

You will support daily living, meals, household tasks and community outings, while maintaining clear boundaries and a positive, proactive approach.

Qualifications

• Energetic, proactive and enjoys working with young people.
• Excellent communication skills and clear English.
• Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
• Holds (or can obtain) an NDIS Worker Check and Working With Children Check.
• Previous disability support experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Support daily living and independent living skills.
• Assist with meal planning, shopping and simple cooking.
• Encourage household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and organisation.
• Support community access and social participation.
• Engage in walking, bike rides, exercise or other recreational activities.
• Provide structure, motivation and positive role modelling.
• Monitor and document support outcomes.

Our Family Respite is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Disability Support Worker to join a small, consistent team supporting an 18-year-old young man on the Central Coast.

About the Participant

He is a fun, energetic young man who lives independently. He likes getting out of the house, technology, bikes, shopping, going for drives, fitness activities, community outings and working towards greater independence.

He responds best to support workers who are calm, easy-going, engaging and able to build genuine rapport while maintaining clear expectations and routine.

What a Typical Shift Looks Like

• Supporting daily living and independent living skills

• Assisting with meal planning, shopping and simple cooking

• Encouraging household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and organisation

• Supporting community access and social participation

• Walking, bike rides, exercise or other recreational activities

• Providing structure, motivation and positive role modelling

• Monitoring and documenting support outcomes

No personal care is required.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone who:

• Is energetic, proactive and enjoys working alongside young people

• Has excellent communication skills and speaks clear English

• Is confident supporting community access and daily living activities

• Can build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries

• Is reliable, organised and consistent

• Is physically capable of participating in community-based activities

• Has a current driver's licence and reliable vehicle

• Holds (or can obtain) an NDIS Worker Check and Working With Children Check

Previous disability support experience is highly regarded, however attitude, reliability and the ability to connect with participants are equally important.

Hours

• Approximately 2 x 3 hour shifts per week (timing flexible)

• Opportunity for additional shifts as supports grow

• Flexible scheduling by mutual agreement
