Job summary

Department for Environment and Water in Adelaide seeks a strategic Director, Water Security, Policy and Planning to lead policy development and delivery of major water initiatives. You will partner with senior leaders to shape policy, manage resources, respond to water challenges, and deliver programs that strengthen water security and urban planning

An excitingopportunity exists for an accomplished and strategic leader to jointhe Department as the Director, Water Security, Policy andPlanning. In this influential role, you will lead SouthAustralia’s response to some of its most significant waterchallenges and opportunities. You will shape policy, drive reform,lead innovation and deliver critical programs that strengthen watersecurity, reduce flood hazard risk, and support water sensitiveurban planning.

Partnering with seniorleaders and key stakeholders across government, industry, research,community and First Nations groups, you will influence policy,build strategic relationships, support emergency preparedness, andlead a high-performing team to deliver impactful outcomes for SouthAustralia.

To beconsidered for this role, you will have:

• Demonstratedexperience in effectively leading and managing a team,demonstrating adeptness in decision-making, resource allocationand fostering a collaborative environment to achieveorganisational goals
• Demonstratedexperience in developing and implementing policies and programsof national and/or state-wide significance.
• Provenability to develop effective relationships with community,industry, government and non-government stakeholder groups toachieve the priorities of government
• Soundworking knowledge of the machinery of government and ademonstrated ability to influence and gain the trust andconfidence of others at senior levels in government andnon-government organisations.
• Demonstratedexperience in driving a culture of highperformance.
• Provennegotiation, inter-personal and communication skills inpolitically sensitive and complex environments.
• Demonstratedexperience in strategic and business planning that deliverssuccessful outcomes.
• Demonstrated criticalthinking skills that enable the identification of issues andthe development and implementation of effectivesolutions.

This is a3-year Term Contract.
