Job description

The EL 2 Director Treasury and Accounts Receivable is a senior leadership role within Financial Services Operations (FSO) Branch, Defence Finance Group (DFG). The position is responsible for leading Defence's treasury, banking and accounts receivable functions, ensuring effective cash management, banking operations, debt management and revenue collection across the organisation.

The duties of an EL2 Director - Treasury and Accounts Receivable Director may include:

  • Lead the Treasury and Accounts Receivable function within FSO Branch, providing strategic direction, governance and assurance across Defence treasury, banking and debt management activities.
  • Lead, develop and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and customer service.
  • Manage resources, priorities and workflows to achieve operational and strategic outcomes.
  • Oversee Defence cash management and liquidity activities, ensuring sufficient funding is available to meet operational requirements.
  • Lead Defence banking operations, including banking governance, account management, banking service arrangements and compliance with whole-of-government banking requirements.
  • Provide strategic advice on treasury policies, frameworks and practices, ensuring alignment with legislative and policy obligations.
  • Deliver treasury reporting, analysis and forecasting to support senior executive decision-making and external reporting requirements.
  • Provide strategic oversight of Defence accounts receivable operations, including billing, revenue collection, debt management and recovery activities.
  • Ensure effective management of outstanding debt through appropriate governance, performance monitoring and stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead initiatives to improve accounts receivable performance, debt recovery outcomes and financial controls.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing Defence on treasury, banking and accounts receivable matters.
About our Team

The Treasury and Accounts Receivable team is one of six directorates comprising the Financial Systems and Operations Branch. The director has two EL1 direct reports with overall responsibility for 20 staff contributing to the success of the Treasury and Accounts Receivable function.
