Job summary

The University of Sydney invites applications for Director of the Australian Centre for Robotics (ACFR), a five-year fixed-term appointment with potential for a substantive continuing academic appointment at Level D/E or Professor of Practice depending on profile. The Director will provide strategic, academic and operational leadership to keep ACFR at the forefront of robotics research and innovation.

• Candidates will demonstrate excellence in robotics and autonomous systems through scholarly outputs or major engineering achievements.
• Experience in translating research into impact with industry or government partners is highly valued.
• Proven leadership in senior roles with a track record of building teams and guiding strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for ACFR to maintain its role as Australia’s leading robotics centre.
• Set the centre’s direction, performance, finances and engagement with industry, government and international partners.
• Represent ACFR to national and global partners and contribute to teaching, supervision, and mentoring as appropriate.
