Job summary

North West Hospital and Health Service seeks a Director of Nursing to lead nursing and midwifery across North West Queensland. This permanent full-time role drives service improvement, workforce capability, governance and safety initiatives, delivering high-quality care across multiple sites.

You will partner with executives and teams to shape strategy, oversee planning and performance, and promote positive outcomes for patients, staff and communities in Mount Isa and the region.

Qualifications

• Mandatory: relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
• Master of Nursing is highly regarded per the Australian framework.
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant area is highly desirable.
• Willingness to work Monday to Friday hours with on-call as required.

About the role

As Director of Nursing, you will provide strategic leadership and professional direction across designated nursing and midwifery services, programs and portfolios within the North West Hospital and Health Service. Working closely with executive leaders and multidisciplinary teams, you will oversee clinical and corporate governance, lead service planning and innovation, and drive performance, quality and safety initiatives that deliver positive outcomes for patients, staff and communities.

Working with us

• For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,695. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$11,085; and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,390 (pro rata for part time employees).

In your downtime, we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your recreation leave.

• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
• Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual.
• Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.

Plus 2 weeks p.a., travel as required and enrolment and conference costs for approved courses and conferences.

We also offer staff accommodation (if eligible) or a private rental subsidy of AUD$82.50 per week for up to 17 months.

Requirements

• Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
• Whilst not mandatory, Master of Nursing would be well regarded in line with the Australian Qualification Framework.
• A post graduate qualification or currently enrolled in a post graduate program in a relevant area of study is highly desirable.
• Appointees will be required to work Monday to Friday business hours and as required for the organisation.
• This position may also be required to do on-call duties.
• The position may involve travel to various facilities or units within the North West Hospital and Health Service.
• C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
• Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
• This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
• A period of probation may apply.
