Job summary

SA Health seeks a Director of Nursing to provide strategic and operational leadership for nursing services across the Renmark Paringa District Hospital and its 89-bed residential aged care facility. The role focuses on governance, practice standards and continuous improvement while ensuring cost-effective service delivery.

The successful candidate will possess RN registration, substantial post‑registration experience, and strong leadership, communication and financial management capabilities,

Qualifications

• Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, with a current practising certificate, and at least five years’ post-registration experience.
• Demonstrated senior management experience in leadership, strategic planning, personnel and financial management.
• Broad knowledge of contemporary healthcare issues, legislation and industrial agreements, with a track record in quality improvement.

About the Role:

The Director of Nursing provides strategic and operational leadership, governance and direction for nursing services within the Renmark Paringa District Hospital, including the 89 bed residential aged care facility. The role is accountable for developing and implementing frameworks and systems that support safe, effective and contemporary practice, monitoring clinical and service delivery standards, and ensuring the ongoing improvement of nursing practice, care service provision, clinical governance, healthy work environments and the cost-effective delivery of health services within the role’s span of control.

What We're Looking For:

Essential Criteria

• Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, with a current practising certificate, and at least five years’ post-registration experience.
• Demonstrated senior management experience in leadership, strategic planning, personnel and financial management.
• Highly developed leadership, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and achieve outcomes.
• Proven experience implementing new systems, managing significant change and delivering innovative service improvements.o
• Broad knowledge of contemporary healthcare issues, relevant legislation and industrial agreements, and quality improvement systems in a hospital setting.

Desired Criteria

• Postgraduate tertiary qualifications in health administration.
• Recent experience applying information technology in healthcare, with extensive executive management experience and proven employee relations skills.
• Broad understanding of state and local political, legal and socio-economic environments and their impact on hospital management.
