Job summary

Simple Machines is seeking a senior data leader to guide and reshape our data platform strategy from Sydney. You will operate across executive, architectural, commercial, and delivery levels to drive AI-native data ecosystems.

Lead architecture for enterprise data programs, shape propositions, and mentor teams while collaborating with senior stakeholders and partners to advance ANZ initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in hands-on data engineering, data platforms, analytics engineering, or data architecture.
• Consultancy and enterprise client-facing experience.
• Strong pre-sales, proposal development, and solution shaping capability.
• Experience architecting and delivering modern cloud-native data platforms at enterprise scale.
• Experience developing data products and reusable enterprise data capabilities.
• Knowledge of data mesh, governance, and scalable domain-oriented ownership.

Responsibilities

• Part of the Global Data Practice leadership team.
• Define and evolve Simple Machines' data platform propositions and direction.
• Advise clients on data platform strategy, architecture, and AI readiness.
• Support AI-native, real-time, data product operating models.
• Lead architecture and technical direction for complex enterprise data programs.
• Pre-sales, proposal development, and executive stakeholder engagement.
• Mentor teams and drive capability uplift across engineering.
• Contribute to thought leadership and market positioning in ANZ.
