Job summary

Mackay Hospital and Health Service is seeking a Director, Health Information Services to lead the strategic and operational planning of the Health Information Service. Responsibilities include enhancing service delivery across MHHS and overseeing clinical records management, data quality, clinical coding, privacy and information rights.

The role sits within Health Information Services, reporting to CIO leadership, guiding a team delivering high-quality patient information and information access

Your opportunity

The Director, Health Information Services leads the strategic and operational planning of the Health Information Service, including the execution of departmental strategies and plans to enhance the service in accordance with Mackay Hospital and Health Service' (MHHS) values and strategic plan.

This position will manage and accept responsibility for the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of the provision of health information services for MHHS including clinical records management, clinical data management, clinical coding, Privacy and Right to Information.

Health Information Services (HIS) delivers specialised services that support the Mackay Hospital and Health Service's commitment to the effective management and provision of high-quality patient information.

The service encompasses several key functional areas, including Health Information Management, Clinical Coding, Data Quality, Information Access, Scanning, & Medical Typing. HIS operates under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
