Job summary

Galileo Search is seeking a Director of AI Architecture and Platforms in Sydney for a permanent hybrid role. You will own the reference architectures and standards for AI across models, agents, APIs, orchestration, integration and security.

You will lead platform and vendor assessments, align AI, data and cloud platforms, and define the target state for engineering teams. Hands-on experience with Azure AI and Databricks on Azure and AWS is required.

Qualifications

• Two+ years in AI-focused roles in recent years.
• Experience designing Azure-based AI architectures across platforms.

Responsibilities

Employment type: Full-time permanent. Seniority: Director. Package: Director-level, confirmed on application.

The role

An APRA-regulated financial services group is appointing a Director to own its AI reference architectures and standards across models, agents, APIs, orchestration, integration and security. You lead platform, tooling and vendor assessments, align the AI, data and cloud platforms, and set the target state the engineering teams build to. Hands-on Azure AI and Databricks, with cloud-native design on Azure and AWS.

What you bring, both evidenced with dates

• Full-time AI work since (Proven for at least 2 years). Every role from January 2023 onward is an AI role: AI or generative AI architecture, AI platform, ML engineering. A cloud or data architect who added AI in 2025 does not meet this line.
• Several years of Azure architecture. Three or more years designing on Azure (Azure OpenAI, AI Foundry, Databricks on Azure, AKS, Fabric or Synapse), dated by role. AWS-first with Azure in a skills list does not meet this line.
• Enterprise reference architectures and target-state blueprints you authored.
• Platform and vendor assessment: Foundry, agent platforms, model providers, AI SaaS, RFPs.
• Regulated financial services is an advantage, not a gate. Sydney, hybrid.
