Job summary

Bendigo Kangan Institute is seeking an experienced and influential academic quality leader to establish and lead a robust governance and quality framework across Victoria's largest TAFE. Reporting to the Chief Quality & Learning Officer, you will drive regulatory compliance and continuous improvement across teaching, learning and assessment.

This newly created leadership role offers strategic influence, with flexible location options across metropolitan and regional Victoria, and the opportunity

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in academic quality, educational governance and compliance within the VET sector.
• Demonstrated expertise in ASQA standards, RTO compliance requirements and academic governance frameworks.
• Experience implementing governance structures, quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives in large, complex organisations.
• Proven capability in developing and reviewing policies, procedures and quality frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Institute's academic quality, governance and compliance functions.
• Establish and strengthen academic governance frameworks and oversight structures.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives across teaching, learning and assessment practices.
• Provide expert advice to the Executive team and the Board on academic regulatory compliance and risk.
• Lead policy and procedure development to support quality educational outcomes.
• Chair and oversee governance committees, including VET Board of Studies and its sub-committees.
• Build organisational capability in quality assurance, compliance and continuous improvement.
• Develop productive relationships with regulators, government agencies and key stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate compliance risks while maintaining a culture of excellence and accountability.

About The Role

Bendigo Kangan Institute is seeking an experienced and influential academic quality leader to establish and lead a robust academic governance and quality framework across one of Victoria's largest TAFEs. This newly created leadership role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of educational quality, compliance and governance across our diverse organisation.

Reporting to the Chief Quality & Learning Officer, you will provide strategic leadership across academic governance, regulatory compliance, quality assurance and continuous improvement. Working closely with senior leaders, regulators and education delivery teams, you will drive a culture of quality excellence while ensuring compliance with key regulatory frameworks including ASQA, VRQA, ACFE and CRICOS requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional who thrives on building capability, influencing change and creating sustainable governance practices that enhance student outcomes and organisational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Institute's academic quality, governance and compliance functions
• Establish and strengthen academic governance frameworks and oversight structures

About You

You are a strategic and influential leader with expertise in vocational education compliance and academic quality.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Extensive experience in academic quality, educational governance and compliance within the VET sector
• Demonstrated expertise in ASQA standards, RTO compliance requirements and academic governance frameworks
• Experience implementing governance structures, quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives in large, complex organisations
• Proven capability in developing and reviewing policies, procedures and quality frameworks
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build credibility across diverse groups
• Postgraduate qualifications in education or a related discipline
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Diploma of Vocational Education & Training (or equivalent) highly regarded
