Job summary

Bendigo Kangan Institute is seeking an experienced academic quality leader to establish and drive a robust governance and quality framework across one of Victoria's largest TAFEs. You will report to the Chief Quality & Learning Officer and influence strategic direction on compliance, quality assurance and continuous improvement across the organisation.

This newly created role offers autonomy to shape governance practices, build capability, and partner with regulators to enhance student outcomes

Qualifications

• Proven experience in academic quality, governance and compliance within the VET sector.
• Strong knowledge of ASQA, VRQA, ACFE and CRICOS requirements.
• Experience building governance frameworks and quality systems in large organisations.

Responsibilities

• Lead academic quality, governance and compliance functions across the Institute.
• Strengthen governance frameworks and oversight structures.
• Drive quality improvement across teaching, learning and assessment.
• Advise Executive and Board on regulatory compliance and risk.
• Lead policy development to support quality outcomes.
• Chair governance committees and oversee sub-committees.
• Develop organizational capability in quality assurance and continuous improvement.
• Build relationships with regulators and key stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate compliance risks while maintaining excellence.

About The Role

Bendigo Kangan Institute is seeking an experienced and influential academic quality leader to establish and lead a robust academic governance and quality framework across one of Victoria's largest TAFEs. This newly created leadership role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of educational quality, compliance and governance across our diverse organisation.

Reporting to the Chief Quality & Learning Officer, you will provide strategic leadership across academic governance, regulatory compliance, quality assurance and continuous improvement. Working closely with senior leaders, regulators and education delivery teams, you will drive a culture of quality excellence while ensuring compliance with key regulatory frameworks including ASQA, VRQA, ACFE and CRICOS requirements.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will:

• Lead the Institute's academic quality, governance and compliance functions
• Establish and strengthen academic governance frameworks and oversight structures
• Drive quality improvement initiatives across teaching, learning and assessment practices
• Provide expert advice to the Executive team and the Board on academic regulatory compliance and risk
• Lead policy and procedure development to support quality educational outcomes
• Chair and oversee governance committees, including VET Board of Studies and it’s sub-committees
• Build organisational capability in quality assurance, compliance and continuous improvement
• Develop productive relationships with regulators, government agencies and key stakeholders
• Identify and mitigate compliance risks while maintaining a culture of excellence and accountability

About You

You are a strategic and influential leader with expertise in vocational education compliance and academic quality.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Extensive experience in academic quality, educational governance and compliance within the VET sector
• Demonstrated expertise in ASQA standards, RTO compliance requirements and academic governance frameworks
• Experience implementing governance structures, quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives in large, complex organisations
• Proven capability in developing and reviewing policies, procedures and quality frameworks
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build credibility across diverse groups
• Postgraduate qualifications in education or a related discipline
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Diploma of Vocational Education & Training (or equivalent) highly regarded
