Key Responsibilities
- Provide direction to Data Governance program implementation, drive delivery of data strategy among stakeholders.
- Establish and govern an enterprise data governance and master data implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities as well as a business case.
- Roll out an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality through modifications to organization behavior, policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture.
- Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal information assets.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners, key repositories of information, and a system of record for key facts.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection (privacy and security) standards, and adoption requirements across the enterprise.
- Define indicators of performance and quality metrics; ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.
- Coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline the expense related to those services.
- Work with leadership to identify data domains, domain leads, owners, and stewards to assists in the development and delivery of appropriate governance training.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree plus 5-10 years of Governance experience and 2+ years working within a Data Office or data related programs.
- Demonstrated aptitude in data governance activities and best practices.
- Strong influencing skills at a senior level and across a company, with the ability to credibly engage.
- Experience establishing and managing information or data governance process and procedures across many divisions within a company.
- Experience with reference data, master data, data modeling, data analytics, metadata, and glossary and data lineage.
- Familiarity with data quality method, storage repositories, and tools across industry landscape.
- Demonstrated ability to spread adoption of data governance best practices through governance consuls and committees within any division.
- Experience working with all levels of leadership to define and establish data quality rules, definitions and strategy.
- Experience with major MDM and data quality technology vendors and third-party implementors, comparing costs and features, to provide recommendations.
