Job summary

Seven West Media is seeking a Digital Producer for TheNightly.com.au to shape the daily news flow in the afternoons and evenings. You will support the Online Editor, guide content direction, and ensure timely, accurate reporting in a fast-paced digital newsroom.

You have a journalism degree and proven media experience, with excellent writing, interviewing, and communication skills. Ability to work autonomously under pressure and adapt to seven-day newsroom shifts is essential.

As a key player in our dynamic online team, you’ll support the Online Editor and guide the content direction across the site in the afternoons and evenings. If you’re passionate about breaking news, have top-notch writing skills, and thrive under pressure then this is the role for you.

What We Need: To thrive in this role, you must have experience in journalism, excellent writing and communication skills as well as sound news judgment. You must also have a keen attention to detail combined with a strong sense of urgency, an ability to multi-task and a thorough grasp of online content distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source, write, and publish original stories for the website.
• Utilise social media for both story discovery and promotion.
• Produce engaging video content for digital platforms.
• Apply news judgment and use analytical tools to maximize story visibility.
• Write and edit content, including headlines, captions, and embedded media.
• Support the Online Editor in guiding the daily content direction.
• Maintain awareness of legal and ethical issues in reporting.
• Represent the company professionally and courteously in all interactions.
• Continuously upskill and stay updated with technology and digital trends.
• Work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Conduct professional and thorough interviews.
