Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum AQF Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
• At least three years of relevant experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, service, maintain and repair diesel engines and associated mechanical systems, including braking, steering, suspension and transmission components.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical faults through visual inspections, diagnostic testing, road tests and performance assessments.
• Dismantle diesel engines, assemblies and vehicle components to inspect for wear, damage, defects and mechanical failures.
• Repair, replace and adjust faulty or worn mechanical components and reassemble systems per manufacturer specifications.
• Interpret technical manuals, service instructions and diagnostic reports to ensure accurate and safe repair and maintenance procedures.
• Perform routine servicing and scheduled preventative maintenance, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks and engine adjustments.
• Inspect and maintain diesel engine performance and emission control systems to ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
• Test, calibrate and adjust repaired or replaced components to ensure optimal vehicle performance, reliability and operational efficiency.
• Reassemble and reinstall diesel engines, mechanical assemblies and associated vehicle systems following maintenance and repair work.
• Identify and report additional mechanical defects or repair requirements to ensure vehicles comply with roadworthiness, workplace safety and operational standards.
