Job summary

The Midfield Group in Warrnambool, Victoria, is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our on-site maintenance team. You will inspect, service and repair heavy vehicles and equipment to keep operations running smoothly across our paddock-to-plate network.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a heavy vehicle/diesel mechanic.
• Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication is advantageous.
• Maintenance experience with troubleshooting, repair and maintenance on related equipment is advantageous.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic wiring, control wiring and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles and equipment in a safe manner in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Undertake detailed inspections and correct deficiencies; perform preventive maintenance.
• Identify and repair or report worn or failed components.
• Maintain accurate records (time, repair orders, parts usage) on computer.
• Follow administrative procedures for DVRs and paperwork accurately.

Job description

We own and manage farms, factories, and distribution channels, ensuring complete control over the essential aspects of bringing livestock from paddock to plate.

We currently have a position available for an experienced Diesel Mechanic in Warrnambool, Victoria. In this role, you will work alongside a team of skilled mechanical tradespeople to perform onsite maintenance, reporting to the Transport Manager. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing heavy vehicles, mobile plant, and equipment efficiently to ensure the business’s operational requirements are consistently met.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles, and equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
• Undertaking detailed inspections of heavy vehicles and equipment and correct equipment deficiencies and perform preventive maintenance on company own equipment
• Identify and repair or report worn or failed components, etc.
• Maintaining accurate records (time, repair orders and parts usage) on computer
• Follow administrative procedures for completion of DVR’s as instructed
• Complete service forms, brake forms and other paperwork accurately and legibly in accordance with company guidelines

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

• Trade qualification as a heavy vehicle / diesel mechanic
• Good mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of welding and fabrication would be advantage
• Some experience within a maintenance related fields performing troubleshooting, repair and maintenance on compactors, containers, and related equipment is advantageous
• Ability to troubleshoot and make repairs to basic wiring, control wiring and hydraulic systems
• You have the right to work in Australia
• You must pass a drug & alcohol test and be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical if required

Salary Range: $90,000-$105,000 pa + super
