Job summary

The Midfield Group is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic in Warrnambool, Victoria. You will join a team of skilled tradespeople to inspect, maintain, and repair heavy vehicles, mobile plant, and equipment to meet operational requirements.

On-site role with competitive base pay and superannuation, reporting to the Transport Manager. Candidates should have a trade qualification in heavy vehicles/diesel, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work safely to high standards.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a heavy vehicle/diesel mechanic.
• Good mechanical aptitude with basic welding and fabrication knowledge.
• Experience in maintenance-related fields for troubleshooting and repair.
• Ability to troubleshoot wiring, control wiring and hydraulic systems.
• You have the right to work in Australia.
• Must pass a drug & alcohol test and undergo a pre-employment medical if required.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles and equipment safely and in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Conduct detailed inspections and perform preventive maintenance on company equipment.
• Identify and repair or report worn components and defects.
• Maintain accurate records (time, repair orders, parts usage) on computer systems.
• Follow administrative procedures for DVRs as instructed.
• Complete service forms and paperwork accurately per guidelines.

We currently have a position available for an experienced Diesel Mechanic in Warrnambool, Victoria. In this role, you will work alongside a team of skilled mechanical tradespeople to perform onsite maintenance, reporting to the Transport Manager. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing heavy vehicles, mobile plant, and equipment efficiently to ensure the business’s operational requirements are consistently met.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles, and equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
• Undertaking detailed inspections of heavy vehicles and equipment and correct equipment deficiencies and perform preventive maintenance on company own equipment
• Identify and repair or report worn or failed components, etc.
• Maintaining accurate records (time, repair orders and parts usage) on computer
• Follow administrative procedures for completion of DVR’s as instructed
• Complete service forms, brake forms and other paperwork accurately and legibly in accordance with company guidelines

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

• Trade qualification as a heavy vehicle / diesel mechanic
• Good mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of welding and fabrication would be advantage
• Some experience within a maintenance related fields performing troubleshooting, repair and maintenance on compactors, containers, and related equipment is advantageous
• Ability to troubleshoot and make repairs to basic wiring, control wiring and hydraulic systems
• You have the right to work in Australia
• You must pass a drug & alcohol test and be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical if required

Salary Range: $90,000-$105,000 pa + super
