Brackens Field Maintenance is a mechanical repair workshop based in Dalby, in beautiful southern QLD. From our well‑equipped workshop, or on site where you need us, we can perform repairs, rebuilds, maintenance, and servicing on earth‑moving equipment, trucks, tractors, 4x4s, and other commercial vehicles.

The role

As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you'll work across diagnostics, servicing, repairs and customer support to keep vehicles operating safely and efficiently. This is a hands‑on role offering plenty of variety, from routine maintenance through to major driveline overhauls.

Perform scheduled servicing, including oil changes, brake inspections and suspension checks

Replace fluids, filters, belts, hoses and other serviceable components

Conduct pre- and post-service inspections to identify potential issues

Recommend preventative maintenance solutions to minimise downtime and future repairs

Use diagnostic equipment and software to identify mechanical, electrical and driveline faults

Interpret fault codes and troubleshoot issues effectively

Read and follow wiring diagrams, service manuals and repair documentation

Accurately diagnose faults and determine appropriate repair solutions

Repair and replace components including brakes, steering, suspension and exhaust systems

Carry out major repairs and overhauls on engines, transmissions, final drives and other driveline components

Ensure all repairs are completed to manufacturer specifications and industry standards

Safety & Quality Assurance

Conduct safety inspections and roadworthiness assessments

Ensure all completed work meets quality and compliance requirements

Verify repairs through thorough testing and inspection prior to vehicle release

Customer Service & Workshop Support

Communicate with customers regarding faults, repair options and maintenance recommendations

Prepare repair estimates and provide clear technical advice

Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, recommendations and labour hours

Order, receive and manage parts inventory as required

Ensure all parts and materials used meet quality and vehicle specifications
