Job summary

Hastings Deering in Mackay is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Diesel Fitters to join our New Build Team in a state-of-the-art workshop. You will build, commission and service Caterpillar mining and construction equipment to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Working Monday to Friday on a stable roster, you’ll collaborate with production, engineering and quality teams to deliver new machines on schedule while developing your skills with CAT technology and

Qualifications

• Hold a Diesel Fitter, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Plant Mechanic or equivalent trade qualification.
• Demonstrated experience working on heavy mobile equipment, mining machinery or construction equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills with a focus on delivering quality outcomes.
• A genuine commitment to safe work practices and high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a positive, high-performing team environment.
• Hold a current and valid Driver's Licence.
• Caterpillar experience highly regarded but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Build Industry-Leading Equipment - Assemble, fit and commission new Caterpillar equipment and components.
• Diverse Technical Work - Perform mechanical, hydraulic and electrical installations across a range of new build machines.
• Quality Matters - Conduct inspections, testing and quality assurance checks to ensure equipment meets OEM standards.
• Technical Expertise - Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and service information.
• Problem Solving - Identify and rectify assembly, fitment and commissioning issues to achieve quality outcomes.
• Safety First - Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company and Caterpillar standards.
• Team Success - Collaborate with production, engineering and quality teams to deliver equipment on schedule.
