Job summary

NSW Health's Ryde Hospital Diabetes Team is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 (CNS2) in a permanent part-time role. You will provide diabetes education to inpatients, outpatients, and their families, working with an experienced team to improve care and outcomes.

The CNS2 Diabetes Education role requires current nursing registration with AHPRA, post-graduate qualification in Diabetes Management and Education, and at least three years' relevant experience.

Ryde Hospital Diabetes Team

Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community.

The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.

Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.

What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 (CNS2) Diabetes Education is an experienced Registered Nurse authorised to function with an extended autonomy of clinical decision making within the diabetes specialty.
The CNS2 Diabetes Education is responsible for providing a comprehensive diabetes education service to in-patients and outpatients and their families and carers.
The CNS2 Diabetes Education initiates assessment, planning, implementation, diagnosis and evaluation of care required and provides clinical leadership within the diabetes speciality.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

• Current Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration and relevant post-graduate qualification in Diabetes Management and Education and at least 3 years minimum experience working area of their specified post-graduate qualifications or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
• Evidence of ability to develop, implement and evaluate education in diabetes for staff/patients/clients and carers.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and enhance clinical practice and improve effectiveness of intervention, including introduction of evidence based practice.

Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills including computer literacy and competency in Microsoft office applications.
