Job summary

UGL Limited invites qualified professionals to join the Defence Fuel Installations team at Amberley RAAF Base, Queensland. You will operate and manage fuel installations with a focus on safety, compliance, and continuity of supply in a high-stakes defence environment.

Training pathways and extended development opportunities are provided as part of a long-term, tier-1 services program supporting Australia’s national security. Relocation near Amberley may be required.

Qualifications

• Commitment to safety is core to every task.
• Ability to work in a Defence environment with discipline.
• Valid driver’s licence; HR/HC desirable but not essential at entry.
• Ability to obtain Defence Security Clearance.
• Residency in Brisbane or willingness to relocate near Amberley.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Operations Advisor and perform a range of operational tasks.
• Ensure safe, compliant operation and management of aviation/ground fuel installations.
• Oversee fuel quality, compliance, quantity and availability, including related systems.
• Maintain technical integrity of fuel through sampling and testing.
• Bring experience from similar high-risk environments; highly regarded.

As this significant long-term operations and maintenance contract continues to grow, we are seeking several talented Defence Fuel Operators to join our team at RAAF Amberley SEQLD

The Role - Defence Fuel Installations Operator (DFI Operator)

Whilst this position supports multiple fuel installation sites around QLD, you will be primarily established at Amberley RAAF base.

As a DFI Operator, you will:

• Report to the Operations Advisor (OA) and perform a range of operational and functional tasks across the installation.
• Ensure the safe, compliant operation and management of aviation and/or ground fuel installations.
• Oversee fuel quality, compliance, quantity, and availability, including related systems and processes.
• Maintain technical integrity of fuel through quality control sampling and testing.
• Bring experience from similar environments—fuel or other high-risk/hazardous processing industries—highly regarded.

No prior Defence or Fuel Industry experience? No problem!

While Defence or fuel industry experience is advantageous, UGL’s comprehensive training and development programs provide a pathway into the industry. You’ll receive the skills and knowledge needed to perform your role safely, including access to specialised interstate facilities and a mix of onsite and offsite training throughout your career.
