Leidos Australia is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to embed security, automation and reliability across the software delivery lifecycle in Melbourne. You will work with engineering, security and cloud teams to shape secure, scalable solutions for mission-critical capabilities.

You will design and enhance secure CI/CD pipelines, collaborate to improve platform reliability, and develop infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native tooling to enable repeatable delivery across environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, SRE or a similar role.
• Designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Cloud technologies familiarity (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation or equivalents.
• Knowledge of secure software development, vulnerability management and security-by-design.
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Ability to automate using Python, PowerShell or Bash.
• Strong communication across engineering, security and business stakeholders.

The Opportunity

As a DevSecOps Engineer, you will play a key role in embedding security, automation and reliability across the software delivery lifecycle. Working closely with engineering, security and platform teams, you will help shape and maintain secure, scalable solutions that support mission‑critical capabilities and modern digital services.

• Design, implement and enhance secure CI/CD pipelines, ensuring security controls are integrated throughout the development and deployment lifecycle.
• Collaborate with software engineers, cloud specialists and cyber security teams to improve platform reliability, automate operational processes and strengthen security posture.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code, cloud‑native environments and security tooling that enable scalable, repeatable and compliant delivery practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimise automation, monitoring, vulnerability management and DevSecOps practices across the delivery environment.

About You

You are passionate about building secure, resilient and automated technology solutions and enjoy working in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams. You bring a practical approach to balancing security, operational efficiency and delivery outcomes in complex technology environments.

Essential Experience

• Experience in DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering or a similar role.
• Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar platforms.
• Capability in cloud technologies and services, preferably within Azure, AWS or Google Cloud environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation or equivalent.
• Knowledge of secure software development practices, vulnerability management, application security testing and security‑by‑design principles.
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to automate operational and security processes using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell or Bash.
• Well‑developed communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, security and business stakeholders.

Advantageous Experience

• Experience supporting regulated, enterprise‑scale or mission‑critical environments.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture, cloud security frameworks and compliance requirements.
• Experience implementing security tooling such as SAST, DAST, secret scanning, dependency management or container security solutions.
• Relevant industry certifications such as Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, DevOps or Cyber Security certifications.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Additional Requirements

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold an NV‑1 security clearance.
