Job summary

Port Stephens Council invites applications for the Development Services Support Team Leader role within the DSS. You will lead a team of five Development Support Officers, ensuring efficient internal systems and strong stakeholder collaboration across Development Planning, Engineering, and Certification.

This permanent, full-time position (35 hours/week) offers a base salary of AUD 90,888–106,927 plus 12% superannuation and a retention allowance, with work from the PSC Administration Building in

The opportunity

Our Development Services team is comprised of four teams, housing Development Engineering, Building & Certification, Development Planning, and Development Services Support (DSS). The Development Services Section provides key services to the community related to statutory planning, building certification, subdivision certification and other planning related services.

We’re seeking a dynamic and motivating leader to step into our DSS team as the Development Services Support Team Leader. The DSS team provide specialist administrative support to the Development Services teams, ensuring our services continue to run smoothly to deliver best value to our customers and stakeholders.

Reporting directly to the Development Services Section Manager and making up part of the Leadership team within Development Services, your role as Team Leader is key in overseeing internal systems, ensuring efficiency across teams, and supporting strong and collaborative relationships. You will lead and mentor a team of five Development Support Officers, providing them with support and knowledge as they service our internal teams and customers within the Port Stephens community.

This is a permanent opportunity – working full-time 35 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement

Base Salary Range: $90,888 to $106,927 pa based on 35 hours / week + 12% superannuation + $2,562 retention allowance

You will be working from PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

Relevant qualifications in local government, business management, business administration or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of contemporary experience in this field

Demonstrated experience in leadership including the ability to plan, motivate and supervise a team to achieve performance targets and foster team relationships with a commitment to staff development through training and coaching

Demonstrated ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, which give support to key projects and activities

Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in an environment requiring a high degree of initiative and judgement
