Job summary

UNSW is seeking a Development Officer, Foundation & Corporate Philanthropy to advance philanthropic fundraising across national and international trusts and foundations. The role focuses on cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts while working with academic leaders and donors to align opportunities with UNSW priorities.

The successful candidate will prepare EOIs and proposals, manage a portfolio of prospects, and contribute to revenue targets within a large, collaborative university

Qualifications

• Relevant degree with extensive experience in fundraising and donor relations, preferable in a higher education setting, including writing grant applications and reports.
• Demonstrated ability to articulate a compelling theory of change and secure major gifts, pledges or commitments of $100,000 or greater.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to establish collaborative and sustainable relationships with alumni, prospects, donors, colleagues, academic leaders and other UNSW stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write persuasively and present complex information clearly through applications, briefings, proposals and written presentations.
• Superior organisational skills, high attention to detail and proven ability to establish and realise objectives in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of fundraising principles and tax laws that impact charitable giving, personal assets and estates.
• Substantial experience working effectively in a large complex organisation, with demonstrated ability to influence, build support and show initiative, creativity and independent judgement.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of philanthropic strategies to achieve agreed fundraising priorities, activity targets and revenue goals.
• Build and manage a personal portfolio of approximately 100 trust and foundation prospects with the capacity or potential to make commitments of $100,000 or more.
• Work with academic leaders, university partners and development colleagues to identify philanthropic opportunities, develop gift ideas and foster productive relationships.
• Prepare persuasive EOIs, proposals, solicitation materials, grant reports and cultivation communications for trust and foundation donors and prospects.
• Develop and maintain effective cultivation and stewardship plans for prospects and donors.
• Provide high-quality fundraising advice, information and support to stakeholders and contribute to a coordinated whole-of-University approach.
• Develop and implement an annual work plan supporting agreed prospect engagement, activity and fundraising goals.

The Development Officer, Foundation & Corporate Philanthropy (FCP) supports the delivery of philanthropic fundraising strategies for the Division, with a focus on cultivating, soliciting and stewarding national and international trusts and foundations. Working collaboratively with development colleagues, academic leaders and stakeholders, the role identifies funding opportunities, develops compelling proposals and builds sustainable relationships that contribute to UNSW's fundraising priorities and revenue targets.

The role reports to the Head of Development (FCP) and has no direct reports.
