Job summary

Tweed Shire Council in Murwillumbah, NSW, seeks a Technical Officer - Development Assessment to assist with the Development Assessment process and related planning matters. The role supports seasoned Town Planners and handles customer service and written correspondence on development issues.

Responsibilities include advising the public and authorities, processing applications, and occasional strategic planning tasks.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complaints generated by members of the public, government bodies or other stakeholders which relate to developments.
• Demonstrated customer service skills and experience, including a front counter environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the development process in a local government context.

Responsibilities

• Assist our experienced Town Planners to assess and process development applications.
• Undertake written correspondence regarding development matters and general customer service regarding development assessment.
• Provide advice and information on development and related matters to the general public, applicants, government authorities, consultants and other members of staff.
• Undertake work associated with strategic planning from time to time.
