Job summary

Axia Developments Pty Ltd – Summer Hill NSW seeks an experienced Development Architect / Design Manager to own the architectural and design process from the developer's side.

You will sit within the development team, drive design development across projects, translate commercial objectives into architectural outcomes, test ideas in Revit or AutoCAD, and brief external architects to ensure design intent is delivered efficiently.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in architectural design and development.
• Strong Revit and/or AutoCAD capability.
• Experience developing architectural schemes rather than simply documenting predetermined designs.
• Understanding of development feasibility, yield and apartment efficiency.
• Experience working with external consultants and architectural practices.
• Ideally, experience with mixed-use residential projects.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with senior management.
• A practical, commercially minded approach to design.

Shape major developments from the developer's side.

We are looking for an experienced Development Architect / Design Manager to join our team and take ownership of the architectural and design process from the developer's side.

This is not a traditional architectural practice role.

You will sit within our development team and work closely with our Project Manager, Directors and external architectural practices. Your role will be to ensure our design vision is clearly articulated, efficiently developed and ultimately delivered by our external consultants.

You will be the person in the office who can look at a design, understand the commercial and development objectives behind it, open Revit or CAD, test an idea, develop an option and clearly communicate that direction to our external architect.

The role

You will be responsible for driving design development across our projects.

• Take ownership of the architectural design brief on behalf of the developer.
• Translate commercial and development objectives into clear architectural outcomes.
• Work closely with our Project Manager and Directors to understand and develop the project's vision.
• Review and challenge designs prepared by external architects.
• Develop design options, massing studies, floor plans, apartment layouts and other architectural studies internally.
• Use Revit and/or AutoCAD to test ideas and develop design solutions.
• Undertake yield, NLA, GFA, apartment mix and efficiency studies.
• Identify opportunities to improve the design, development yield, functionality and commercial outcome.
• Prepare mark-ups, sketches, plans, diagrams and presentations to communicate design intent.
• Brief external architects and other design consultants.
• Reduce unnecessary design iterations and external consultant costs by resolving issues internally where appropriate.
• Coordinate architectural design issues with planning, engineering, landscape, traffic, ESD, heritage, access and other consultants.
• Review architectural documentation prepared for DA submissions.
• Maintain design intent as projects progress from concept and planning through to detailed design and delivery.

About you

You will ideally be an experienced architect or architectural professional with strong design development and technical skills and an understanding of the property development environment.

You will have:
