Youth Justice and Victim Support in Cleveland, QLD, is seeking a Detention Youth Worker to help keep young people safe and well in detention, promoting positive behaviour to support reintegration.

You will monitor wellbeing day and night, deliver gender- and culturally-sensitive activities, reinforce centre rules, and be a trusted person for young people to talk to.

Youth Justice and Victim Support – Cleveland QLD

The department is committed to keeping Queensland communities safe, supporting victims, and actively tackling the complex causes of youth crime and targeting serious repeat offenders.

Induction training commences on 18 January 2027, for approximately 7 weeks.

As a Detention Youth Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring young people are kept safe and well while they are in detention. You will be someone who:

• Encourages young people to make good decisions by promoting and reinforcing positive behaviour to help them integrate back into the community.
• Helps young people understand and follow the rules of the centre.
• Delivers activities that are sensitive to gender, cultural beliefs, and health needs.
• Is a trusted individual young people can talk to if needed.
• Regularly checks on young people during the day and night to ensure their wellbeing.
