Job summary

Bryant Building Contractors Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead design efforts in West End, Brisbane. You will coordinate design documentation, manage consultant teams, and maintain client relationships to meet project milestones.

The role requires 3–5 years in design management within a head contractor environment, with strong knowledge of NCC, Australian Standards, and BIM tools. On-site parking and flexible work arrangements are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years design management experience within a head contractor environment.
• Experience coordinating external stakeholders and design consultants.
• Strong knowledge of NCC and Australian Standards; quality management.
• Ability to interrogate specifications and identify risks and mitigations.
• Experience managing shop drawing approvals and design reviews.
• Familiarity with BIM environment and related software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare RFIs for consultants, review proposals, and recommend preferred consultants and costs.
• Undertake risk assessments and technical reviews of project documents.
• Contribute to construction methodology and value management to mitigate risks.
• Develop design management plans covering program, change, safety in design.
• Deliver design programs and manage consultant teams to milestones.
• Coordinate design handover and provide ongoing design support to delivery teams.
• Drive innovation in construction sequencing and robust detailing.
• Ensure authority and external standards requirements are met cost-effectively.
• Prepare and deliver safety in design reports at each design stage.
• Coordinate stakeholder meetings and issue design meeting minutes promptly.
• Manage consultancy agreements, fee proposals and progress claims.
