Gough Recruitment are working with a long standing client which is a leading builder–developer with a strong pipeline of large-scale residential projects across Sydney is seeking a Design Manager to join their Pre-Construction team. The business delivers complex Class 2 high-rise residential projects and offers long-term career opportunities with a stable pipeline.

About the Role As Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase, ensuring design and documentation align with approvals, authority requirements, and construction delivery. You will work closely with consultants, councils, and statutory authorities to achieve cost-efficient, compliant, and buildable outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage design coordination across multiple Class 2 residential projects.
  • Oversee consultant teams to ensure compliance with approvals, codes, and authority requirements.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including councils, certifiers, Sydney Water, and transport authorities.
  • Provide buildability and value engineering input during design development.
  • Ensure deliverables are accurate, timely, and aligned with budgets and construction methodology.
  • Collaborate with project, construction, and development teams to ensure seamless delivery.
About You
  • 5+ years’ experience in design management or coordination within construction or property.
  • Proven background in high-rise residential (Class 2) projects.
  • Strong understanding of planning approvals, building codes, and authority processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
