Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Design Manager to join our AUKUS team in Osborne, SA, leading design and technical delivery for Australia's Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard program.

You will apply Digital Engineering to improve planning, collaborate with clients, consultants and supply chain partners, and ensure constructible, safe designs for high‑risk construction environments.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Geotechnical) with Chartered Professional Engineer status or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in design/engineering/construction.
• Experience in high-risk construction.
• Australian citizen able to obtain NV1 clearance.

• Provide timely and reliable technical support to delivery teams.
• Challenge designs and drive practical, constructable solutions.

Laing O'Rourke, with joint venture partner Amentum Australia, will play a central role in supporting Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) to develop and deliver the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard (NPSCY) project at Osborne, South Australia. We will provide program and construction management services of nuclear related civil infrastructure, site-wide nuclear licensee development expertise, and nuclear safety leadership. About You

• Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Civil/Mechanical/ Electrical/Geotechnical) with Chartered Professional Engineer status or equivalent.


• Minimum of five years’ experience in the Design/Engineering/ Construction field.


• Previous experience working in high-risk construction industry


• Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
