Job summary

Lead Group is seeking a Design Lead to build the design function from the ground up for their pump station and pressure sewer portfolio. The role sits at the intersection of commercial, product, and engineering, giving you ownership from day one.

You will drive hydraulic design, oversee pump station sizing, and ensure WSAA-compliant outputs across major infrastructure projects. This is a foundational role reporting to the General Manager with rapid growth potential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated hydraulic design experience across pump stations and pressure sewer systems.
• Confidence interpreting pump curves and confirming duty points for wastewater applications.
• Comfortable coordinating between internal teams and an external engineering partner.
• Experience with precast concrete pump station systems or WSAA product appraisal is a plus.
• Experience implementing ISO-based quality systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical integrity of pump station and pressure sewer designs end to end.
• Oversee hydraulic design and pump station sizing; review and approve pump selection and duty points.
• Validate network modelling; ensure WSAA-compliance and on-time delivery.
• Build and implement a Design and Development Control Procedure under ISO 9001 and extend to ISO 45001.
• Sign off design outputs before clients, contractors and water agencies.
• Act as primary technical contact for principal contractors on major projects.
• Lead internal training sessions and technical visits for customers and contractors.

About the role

• Own the technical integrity of the business's pump station and pressure sewer designs end to end

• Build the business's design control from scratch, implementing a Design and Development Control Procedure under ISO 9001 as it extends its management system to ISO 45001
• Sign off design outputs before they reach clients, contractors and water agencies
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for principal contractors on major infrastructure projects
• Present at internal training and innovation sessions and lead technical visits for customers and contractors

About you, and what you need to be successful

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated hydraulic design experience across pump stations and pressure sewer systems, with solid WSA/WSAA code application
• Confidence interpreting pump curves and confirming duty points for wastewater applications
• Comfortable coordinating between internal teams and an external engineering partner
• Experience with precast concrete pump station systems, WSAA product appraisal, or working within an ISO-certified quality system will set you apart
