Period of Appointment

5 years - Senior Executive appointment

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.

The Deputy Secretary is part of the Department's executive team and assists the Secretary in supporting and advising the Department's Ministers and in providing leadership, governance and cultural change across the Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level strategic advice to the Minister, Secretary and other Agencies on a range of issues.
  • Represent the Department and act as an advocate for Government and Departmental policy.
  • Manage issues on behalf of the Department and in consultation with the Ministerial Offices.
  • Provide leadership to allocated Output managers.
  • Develop and implement change management strategies.
  • Participate and collaborate as a member of and with the Department’s Executive team.
  • Undertake an active leadership role in meeting whole-of-agency objectives.
  • Deputise for the Secretary as required.
Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline are considered beneficial, together with considerable leadership and management experience at senior executive level.
