Bunnings is looking for a Department Manager to lead a high-energy team in a fast-paced retail environment in Australia. You will shape customer experiences, drive growth, and develop team capability while delivering everyday store performance and profitability.
You will be on the shop floor, leading from the front and balancing daily operations with longer-term goals. Weekend and public holiday scheduling will be part of the roster, with a focus on service delivery and product availability.

This role includes a minimum of 1 in 3 weekend roster and some public holiday work is required.

You’re someone who enjoys leading from the floor and supporting your team, connecting with customers and making things happen. You understand what great service looks like in a trade environment and take pride in delivering it consistently.
You bring a collaborative mindset, working closely with others to solve problems and deliver results. You’re comfortable balancing day-to-day operations with longer-term thinking, and you enjoy building strong relationships that make a difference.
You need a background in retail or a customer service role that offers hands-on experience in a commercial setting that is fast paced with a strong customer focus. You are capable of delivering on management duties such as rostering, stock control, daily operations, meeting sales targets and or store organisation. You also understand the importance of goal setting and performance reviews; you have a proven track record of driving profitability and providing an outstanding customer experience.
You need to be able to deliver key performance metrics and to work within processes to meet organizational goals. You should have the ability to facilitate open communication with your team and to create a culture where people do not hesitate to raise issues.
To succeed, you need to be highly motivated, decisive, organized and require learning ability. We expect you to thrive in ambiguity and adapt quickly. You’ll enjoy quick problem solving and team building and you should be proactive to identify gaps in operations and develop solutions.
To sustain you’ll keep the store’s sentiments aligned, polished presentation and maintain safety and compliance. You’ll be able to adopt a flexible schedule and are willing to work on weekends and public holidays in a store environment, prioritising service delivery and product availability.
We will also consider the following: a desire to deliver from a hands-on and on the floor perspective, proven multi-tasking, and a positive approach to clients. You should be ready for new responsibilities, high energy and flexible work demands.
