Job summary

The Department of Health Tasmania is seeking a Dental Officer to deliver clinical services and support public health programs from our Tasmanian sites, including major centres in Hobart and Launceston. You will be registered with the Dental Board of Australia, have knowledge of children’s dentistry, and strong commitment to ongoing professional development and Minimal Intervention Dentistry.

The Team

OHST is a team of approximately 300 people including dentists, oral health therapists, dental prosthetists, technicians, dental assistants and administrative staff. Care is provided from 33 clinics around Tasmania. Adult services are predominantly provided from 6 major dental centres located in Hobart (New Town), Clarence, Glenorchy, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie as well as the 3 Special Care Dental Units (located within hospital precincts). Child and Adolescent Services are provided predominantly from 23 community clinics which are either located in a community health centre or are a stand‑alone clinic.

The Role

Provide clinical dental services and associated administrative functions in line with Oral Health Service Tasmania’s (OHST) strategies, policies, and programs. This involves the provision of dental services (at general dental practitioner level) to concession card holders and children in accordance with current treatment guidelines and management policies.

Details of appointment

Permanent full time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$133,004 to $208,458 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Salary range is in accordance with Dental Officers Agreement 2025
