Job summary

Hunter New England Health's Gunnedah Dental Clinic is seeking a friendly, capable Dental Assistant to support clinical and administrative tasks in a busy, patient-centred environment.

You'll work closely with dentists and the team to ensure smooth daily operations, maintain infection control standards, and contribute to positive patient experiences. Ongoing orientation and guidance from the Oral Health management team will help you succeed.

Qualifications

• Current Dental Assistant Certificate recognised by the Dental Assistant Education Council of Australia up to the level of Certificate 3.
• Ability to deliver infection control and patient safety to prescribed standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication and team-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

Where you'll be working

Gunnedah Dental Clinic is located within the Gunnedah Hospital campus and operates Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. The clinic provides high-quality dental care to adults and children across Gunnedah and surrounding communities. The Opportunity

As a Dental Assistant, you'll play an important role in delivering efficient, high-quality dental services by providing both clinical and administrative support to the Dental Unit. You'll work closely with dentists and the wider team to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the clinic while helping create a positive experience for every patient. This is a rewarding opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients, contribute to improved oral health outcomes, and be part of a team that values collaboration and quality care. You'll be supported with a comprehensive orientation and ongoing guidance from the Oral Health management team to help you succeed and continue developing your skills.

About you

The suitable applicant will be skilled in the provision of a high level of clinical dental assistance within prescribed standards of infection control and patient safety. You will also have a professional and compassionate attitude and well-developed oral and written communication skills that are utilised to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Your competence in performing and assisting with oral health care procedures and ability work effectively and efficiently in a team setting will be the key to your success in this position.

Requirements

Current Dental Assistant Certificate recognised by the Dental Assistant Education Council of Australia up to the level of Certificate 3 or deemed as an experienced dental assistant from past experience.
