Job summary

Goulburn Dental Care in Goulburn NSW is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant for a part-time role. You will work chairside with dentists and dental hygienists, providing essential support that enhances patient comfort, safety and outcomes.

Responsibilities include instrument handling, sterilisation, operatory prep, patient records, radiography (where permitted) and assisting with patient flow and administrative tasks. A recognised qualification or equivalent experience is required.

Responsibilities

Goulburn Dental Care is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Dental Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. Based in Goulburn NSW 2580, this role is central to delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice. As a Dental Assistant, you will work chairside with our dentists and dental hygienists, providing essential support that directly impacts patient comfort, safety, and treatment outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive healthcare environment whilst maintaining a flexible work schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Providing chairside assistance during dental procedures, including passing instruments and materials to the dentist as required
• Preparing and sterilising dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols
• Preparing the operatory (dental chair and treatment area) for each patient appointment and maintaining a clean, organised workspace
• Recording patient treatment notes and maintaining accurate clinical records
• Taking dental radiographs (X-rays) where appropriate and in accordance with training and legal requirements
• Providing patient care and comfort during procedures, including explaining treatment plans when directed by the dentist
• Assisting with patient registration, scheduling appointments and managing patient flow through the practice
• Supporting the dental team with practice management tasks, including administrative duties and stock management
• Adhering to all infection control, safety and professional standards required in a dental practice

What we're looking for

• A recognised Dental Assistant qualification or equivalent experience in a dental setting
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, dentists and team members
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities, particularly in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Attention to detail and the ability to accurately record patient information and treatment notes
• A commitment to infection control, sterilisation protocols and patient safety
• Physical capability to perform duties including standing for extended periods and assisting with patient positioning
• Professional demeanour with a genuine passion for delivering exceptional patient care
• Preferred experience with dental practice management software and digital radiography systems
• Three days availability required as a minimum i.e. Monday , Wednesday & Friday
