Job summary

Bytes Dental in Goonellabah, NSW, is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the dentist, keep the workflow efficient and provide friendly patient care. The role includes assisting with cleanings, fillings, repairs and minor surgery, plus sterilisation and light reception duties.

Initially casual to fill shifts in Goonellabah and Ballina, with potential for 4-5 days a week from January 2027, and full-time hours for the right candidate in 2027.

Qualifications

• Fast thinking, efficiency and organisational skills required to work under time pressures in a dental practice.
• Australian work rights are required for this position.
• Having a car is ideal to work between two locations, but the job is primarily in Goonellabah.

Job description

The dental assistant is a key person in the delivery of dental care to patients. You will primarily be assisting the dentist in maintaining an efficient workflow for friendly dental care. Help the dentist do cleaning of teeth, fillings, repairs and some minor surgery. Some sterilisation duties and light reception duties (making appointments) may be required. The job will include some Saturdays (negotiable).

Initially a casual position to fill in for odd shifts at Goonellabah and sometimes Ballina, becoming 4-5 days per week from January 2027

Can offer full time hours to the right candidate, in 2027. Flexible work times can be discussed.

Applicants must be 16 years of age or older to be considered for this dental assistant role.

Job tasks and responsibilities

You will need to be fast and efficient with preparing instruments for the dentist. You will need to maintain infection control standards in the sterilisation of equipment. Dental patients are usually anxious so having a caring and friendly nature is a definite advantage.

Skills and experience

Experienced preferred. Fast thinking, efficiency and organisational skills required to work under the time pressures in a dental practice. By the end of 2 years you will be encouraged to have completed a certificate 3 in dental assisting via TAFE.

Australian work rights are required for this position.

Having a car is ideal to work between 2 locations, however the job is primarily in Goonellabah.
